MHM Catalog 'Carved, dark wooden (black walnut) spoon with natural stripes as part of the wood grain. Smooth finish with nice patina. Very shallow and wide bowl with a short hooked handle having a central ridge at the very top." Spoon has oval bowl, very shallow and short hook handle carved with a ridge down the length. Matching wood.

MHM Catalog " Carved wooden feast bowl used by Black Hawk (1767-1838), Chief of the Sauk nation, leader of the Sauk, Fox, and Kickapoo in the 1832 war named after him and an ally of the British in the war of 1812." and further "According to the donor, this spoon [sic] and bowl were used by the Sauk Chief Black Hawk, but the donor does not describe how it came into her possession."
