However, a note added later states that the material is very thin leather from an animal named "capriolo" [E' pelle di capriolo]. Secondary research undertaken by Emanuela Rossi and Stacey Loyer suggests that capriolo is a kind of deer found only in Europe and Asia.
This MNAEF record for this item states it was collected by Mrs. Kingsmith Mavies and was acquired by the museum in 1925 through Giglioli.

Another note added to the MNAEF record states that both moccasins are for the left foot [sono spaiati sono 2 sinistri]. The MNAEF record calls the items as moccasins, and the MNAEF catalogue calls them slippers [pantofole]
