Calling card tray made with birch bark, embroidered with moosehair

Techniques or Format

This tray has an eight-sided bottom, with eight side panels stitched together and embroidered with moose hair.

Motifs and Patterns

The bottom is decorated with a bird motif. Each of the side panels is embroidered with a different scene of daily life (for example, a woman with a kettle over a fire, image of a courting couple touching other )

Dimensions: 27 × 27 × 0 cm
Condition: Poor. Panels have fallen apart and collapsed, which gave the impression to this museum that it was a mat and not a tray.
