Moccasin, single
This relative, a single moccasin, is composed of commercially tanned hide, pink polished cotton lining, red cotton tape, and moosehair. The moccasin is embroidered with quills in floral motifs. Donated by the Duke of Leinster (Maurice FitzGerald, 6th Duke of Leinster), the moccasin's origins are uncertain; however, it is dated to the late nineteenth century and has probable connections to the Huron-Wendat.
This relative currently resides at the National Museum of Ireland.

The accession date of 1889 is earlier than usually stated for this style of moosehair embroidered moccasin. According to Rachel Head, who catalogued the collection, the small round Science and Art Museum Dublin sticker on the moccasin is reliable evidence that the moccasin was accessioned in 1889.
The Science and Art Museum Dublin sticker, which is adhered to the moccasin, dated to 1889.
