coarse indigo blue stroud; probably HBC stroud because of double row the way they made this border is corded; commissioned work, prior to 1912; reverse dye technique; threads are hanging down (not dyed due to webbing technique); unusually thick; muslin inner lining under the ribbon area; red silk ribbon strip across bottom and purple wool tape parallel; purple wool tape edging along bottom and up side
