dark brown walnut dyed hide, moose hair (blue, ivory and white, pale pink and yellow? (not sure))

Techniques or Format

elogated inset vamp with gathers at the seam, inverted T-seam heel-- folded cuff with burgundy silk edging, cuff is in two pieces

Motifs and Patterns

Design field framed with siingle zig zag line, stylized floral (simple), less densly filled design frame

Condition: ribbon missing and quite a bit of stiching loss, also a tear on one from the vamp towards the sole.

du Près arrived in Canada as Captain of the Coldstreem Guards in March of 1841, returned to Ireland in November, 1842 (source: CMC catalogue card) , When du Près was in Canada. , Possibly purchased from the family of the Earl. Needs additional research.
