Description of Land Surrendered:

The Chiefs and Warriors of the Batchewananny and Gourlais Bay Band of Indians do hereby surrendered up forever in trust to Her Majesty Queen Victoria, the lands reserved for them in 1850, namely: the tract of land extending from Wanabekinegunning, west of Gros Cap, to the boundary of the lands ceded by the Chiefs of Lake Superior and inland ten miles throughout the whole distance including Batchewananny Bay.

There were several conditions:

1. Said Indian bands will retain the small islands reserved in 1850

2. Interest arising from the sale of the land will be divided among band members annually

3. Each family shall receive forty acres on the Garden River Reserve.

4. Any family may purchase 80 acres of land ceded at the upset price and on conditions set by the government

5. 1200 dollars are to be divided among the bands surrendering

6. Members shall receive the value of improvements which were made on the ceded land.
