All lands located on the Grand River which were leased to individuals by the late Joseph Brant are to be surrendered to the Crown to be held in trust for the benefit of the Six Nations Indians. Approximately 48,000 acres were surrendered.

Description of Land Sold:
Parcels of land located on the Ouse or Grand River Running into Lake Erie given to the people of the Six Nations from His Majesty King George III, which have been leased or rented out by the late Captain Joseph Brant, shall be surrendered to the Crown in trust, for the intent and purpose that His Majesty King William IV shall and may forthwith command and direct that free grants by His Majesty’s Most Gracious Letters Patent under the Great Seal of this Province shall be made to the holders of such leases obtained under such fair and equitable circumstances as aforesaid of the several tracts or parcels of land therein respectively comprised and intended to be thereby leased as aforesaid (tracts of land measure approximately 48,000 acres). Letter accompanies the treaty from William Hepburn (Trustee of the six Nation Indians) dated 28th April 1835, requesting that Lieut. Col. Rowan registers the treaty at the Secretary’s Office as soon as possible.
