Description of Writing/Text

Description of Land Sold:

Chiefs and Warriors of the Wyandot Tribe of Indians inhabiting the tract of hunting ground known as the Huron Reserve, in the Township of Malden, County of Essex, are desirous to sell a portion of the reserve, which has become highly valuable to the Whites. The Chiefs also desire to receive an annual amount of interest from the proceeds of the sale and subsequent industry, which will take place upon the land. The Wyandot wish to surrender the southern third of the reserve for the general expenses of the Indians, and ask that the Crown sell the Northern third paying to the tribe an annual sum taken from the proceeds of the land. The stone quarry upon which they currently reside will be retained for the use of the Indians.
